Sorting Menu Items

Sort All Ascending and Sort All Descending are the two commands displayed in the Menu Builder Toolbar that are used for sorting menu items.  These two commands will sort all of the menu items, and sub-menu items, in either ascending or descending order, by the menu item's caption.  Sorting can also be performed based on any of the Menu Builder Fields simply by right clicking on the column heading and then selecting either the Sort Ascending or Sort Descending commands that are displayed in the column heading's popup menu.

If a custom sort order is desired, then the sort field is available for entering a custom sort order index.  Please refer to the Menu Builder Fields help topic to learn how to display the sort field if this filed is currently not visible.  When using the sort ascending and sort descending commands, then the sort order is determined first by the order of the sort order index, as displayed in the sort field, and second by the order of the selected field.  The sort order index allows for creating of a custom sort order simply by re-numbering the sequence.

In addition, when the Menu Builder is in the Explorer View, then right clicking on the sort column header will allow selecting a command to either Clear or Re-sequence the sort index.  Clearing the sort index will reset the entire column to a sort index of 1 for every menu item currently in the Explorer View.  Re-sequencing the sort index will sequentially re-number all of the menu items currently in the Explorer View.  Please refer to Menu Builder Views to learn how to display the Explorer View.
