The Menu Builder includes six
different fields for working with menu items. Information regarding the
use of each of these fields is provided below. In addition, most of
these fields can be repositioned simply by dragging to a new location, or they
can be hidden or displayed by selecting the appropriate command as shown in the
illustration below. Also, the Field Chooser can be used to display a
separate form for dragging fields between the Field Chooser and the Menu Builder
to visually configure which fields are displayed. Finally, the Apply to All Views command will apply the currently
displayed fields and widths settings to all of the Menu Builder views including
the Report View, the Explorer View and the Clipboard View. Please refer to
the Menu Builder Views help topic for
information regarding the Report View and the Explorer View, or refer to the Menu Builder Clipboard help
topic to learn more about the Menu Builder Clipboard.
Explanation of the different fields used in the Menu
Builder:
- Menu Item: The menu
item field displays the Categorize Plus Menu Hierarchy in a tree structure
along with the menu caption and icon as it will appear in the Categorize
Plus menus.
- Caption: The text entered in the caption
field is used by Categorize Plus to create the menu
caption that is displayed in the Categorize Menu, the Filter
Menu and the Search Menu. Please refer to the Entering Menu Captions help
topic for more information regarding the caption field.
- Criteria: The text entered in the
criteria field is used for categorizing Outlook items and for
creating filters and searches that are used to find Outlook items.
Please refer to the Entering Menu Criteria help topic
for more information regarding the criteria field.
- Type: There are four different types of
menu items used in Categorize Plus. These four menu types are referred
to as Category Tag, Email Address, Custom Filter and Custom Search. Each
menu type serves a different purpose when categorizing, filtering and
searching Outlook items. Please refer to the Menu Items help topic for more information
regarding the use of menu types in Categorize Plus.
- Level: The text displayed in the level
field represents the depth of the menu item in the Menu
Hierarchy. The Categorize menu as displayed in the Fluent Ribbon
used in Outlook Items in 2007
cannot exceed five menu levels due to a restriction imposed by Microsoft
Office. Therefore, the level field is useful to ensure that menu items
do not exceed five menu levels in depth.
- Sort: The sort field is available
for entering a custom sort order index. Please refer to the Sorting Menu Items help topic
for more information regarding using the sort field.
